As I confirmed elsewhere, I am taking a break for the reasons stated. However, having made that decision I'm actually looking forward to it anyway, as the last 18 months has been hard work, half-tied to the computer for endless hours with over 6300 postings made, many lengthy and detailed.

Over the same period I've built and maintained my own two bike websites, written articles for here, answered countless daily PMs and emails from here and my sites, extensively researched problems to find definitive answers, redesigned and rebuilt two bikes to create the Q and T bikes, done the Agattu review and test, currently carrying out a long term testing program for manufacturers, plus liasons with suppliers and manufacturers to maintain essential information like that on the eZee agency and battery information.

By way of illustration, I've just spent nearly an hour answering technical queries arriving by email, plus some further time spent on answers in connection with the departure issue.

So as said, I'll enjoy the break for at least a while from a part of all that, getting at least some good from the matter I complained of in here. The site is grown up now and there's extensive expertise in the huge pool of members knowledge, demonstrating that no-one is essential to the sites future, me included.

In fact, my original (rather vitriolic) posting on this thread was to let everyone know I was dropping my membership because you had left. Only after I saw you reappear in the members list, and when I saw that you had posted this morning, did I edit my posting to what it is now.

You say the forum has "grown up"... mmm... I wonder. Without your technical expertise and experience, it will just turn into a 'kindest regards', lightened-up, don't worry be happy, type of thing and that is of no interest to me personally whatsoever. What I want is technical info, modification tips and experience, not "I went to the shops this morning on my bike and it was ace" sort of thing.

So, if you do back off, I'll be doing the same thing.

Please don't do that James. Your expertise on the 905se and other matters has been very valuable in the forum, and there's still many good tech members in the forum, Ian, Nick, Jeremy, Haku, Kraeuterbutter for example just to start with, as there are many more, plus a wealth of individual experience in many others.

I didn't see your original posting before the edit by the way. Wondered why it was so brief. ;)

Hi Tony. The original version was a lot longer! Then, when I saw you hadn't deregistered, I had to get it aletered before more than 5 people viewed it... hence it being so brief.

Not being in any way sycophantic but, whilst there are other members who know things, me included to a lesser degree, you're the main man on the forum. A lot of 72 year olds are content to vegetate (some people a lot younger too!) but your knowledge and interest in e-bikes really benefit loads of people and I really do think you should maintain your contribution to the forum. As you know from our e-mails, I too am sometimes grinding my teeth in rage at some postings, but I just don't read them or respond any more. Why not be more selective maybe?

Anyway, I'm pleased to see you haven't gone. Some people may be less pleased to see I haven't (now..)

Flecc it is good to see you are still posting, your advice is invaluable but i fail to see why attacks on a certain supplier bother you so much.

Probably because they are attacks. And directed at only one supplier. Paul - read all flecc's posts on the subject - you don't have to read between the lines and guess at what he is thinking - he states it very clearly and precisely.

Anyway, it is done and dusted now. Russ has put a much needed sticky up for members to write about their experiences on a seperate thread and keep everything contained there.
