Hello, and thank you very much to everyone who posts on this site. I am a newbie and have been reading various threads here with interest prior to my first purchase of an electric bicycle.

I have read various newspapers, some simply carry adverts of @ £600 bikes, some go into further detail. This site has been invaluable, I've finally (after a lot of "back of the fag packet calculations" and reading) gone for a Kalkhoff from 50 cycles. I live in Scotland...we're neither renowned for a) weather, b) electric bicycle dealerships!

Initial impression - bllimey, an electric bicycle has given me wings I never thought I would have (just cycled 9 miles with a big - to me - intimidating hill, and yes, on the public highway) and build quality of the Kalkhoff, well, what can I say, you get what you pay for.

I'm a fat bottomed girl (at the moment...I'm hoping this will improve) but can heartily recommend this course of action, I've been singing today!!!

Thank you to everyone who posts positive on this site - it's very encouraging - and day one is good for me.
You will now have to excuse me as I'm now going to say "big hugs"!
Ta gents ('cos you mostly are...which is why I'm tagging myself "lone ranger" not seeing too many other fat bottomed girls in Glasgow...but I know where to get plus size kit that fits and works for me and it's not extortionate!)
Hope this post is encouraging, not offensive, or innappropriate,
:)

Welcome to the site Lone_ranger. I'm sure you will find the Kalkhoff an excellent purchase. Is it an Agattu that you bought? I used to live near Glasgow and very much enjoyed my few years up in Scotland.

Remember to wrap up in the right stuff, at this time of year if you wear cotton it can absorb sweat and then the sweat cools, unsure how much/far you bike but best not to get caught out.

9 miles isn't bad going for a 1st ride in ages.

Who knew I'd get fussy about drafty ankles!
I've ended up in a pair of ski trousers from Matalan - doesn't make any sense to any shopper I know, particularly bike focused chaps, however, they are warm, wash, stretch, and tuck into my socks.
And come in sizes up to size 20 for £25 before January sale, £12.50 in the sale. What's not to like?
Just realised I've left my auxiliary lights at work, and as I haven't quite figured out the setup on the agutta too scared to take it out in the dark...but the dynamo system does indeed work, and the way they have designed the lenses is awesome, you can actually see where you're riding and other road users can see you too.

Nuts, meant to say waterproof/showerproof too :)
