Thought I'd post up about my good experience with a dealer (makes a change on here!!) -
The dealer in question is Eclipse Bikes. They supplied me with a BBS02 750W in Jan this year which I've had fitted on my own bike for 2k+ miles and it's been ridden through everything you shouldn't with something electrical throughout the year, even going down a stream running off Lantern Pike, part of the Pennine Bridleway, during early Autumn floods which came over the motor in places (it never missed a beat at the time though).
It seems that even the mighty BBS02 isn't infallible, as a couple of weeks ago I got the dreaded error code 8 (Hall Sensor) and the motor decided it didn't want to play any more. A few spanner swings later and the motor was in bits on the bench for inspection (and my wife's motor swapped into my bike...ssshhhh lol), only to find that the internal freewheel had also collapsed and it was the casings holding it all together (I DTI'd the spindle and it had bent inside the motor, causing the freewheel damage...my weight coupled with Farmer John's DH Track prob didn't help).
The motor was returned to Eclipse with an expectation of the "WTF have you put this through " e-mail once they had opened it up...the email duly arrived and they confirmed the motor side was flooded out, beyond repair and warranty doesn't cover water damage.
As they now only supply the latest BBSxxB spec units, they had a look in their spares bin and "found" a new BBS02A unit minus controller (probably a cannibalised one), so they've fitted my controller and it's winging it's way back to me with their best wishes...and prayers that it doesn't come back in the same state again probably.
So, all's well that ends well and I can only sing the praises of Eclipse as they've gone above and beyond what I could of expected of them...if you ever read this...Cheers Guys
Right then, when's the snow arriving so we can get out in it again
