My current favourite cycling book is -
One Man And His Bike - Mike Carter 2012
Mike Carter gives up his life as a London journalist and cycles anti clockwise around the coast of England Scotland and Wales, backpacking on a Ridgeway touring bike.
He recounts the stories of many interesting people and places on the way, including hikers and fellow cyclists undertaking simaler journeys. The journey takes months and around five thousand miles, due to all the diversions and rides out to extremities of the land and a few islands. The ride changes his perception of the kindness of ordinary working people and his cynical perceptions of "Broken Britain."
