Gogo best gf700 strangely shut down

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I got a gogo best gf 700 500w front and 500w rear, the gears went in the front a while back which I replaced and was back working fine.

Monday I went to work and bike was great, bike derestricted does 28mph.

Left work and bike wouldn't go over 15mph with the throttle.

Tried derestricting technique and then the throttle wouldn't work atall.

So tried again and could get 15mph with pedal assist ?

So after a few miles I tried derestricting technique again but then couldn't get to over 8mph.

Then final attempt and now I have nothing, no throttle or pedal assist ? Anyone have anything similar happen or any ideas ? As it just seems very strange .

Thanks in advance

It was derestricted already when I bought it, I bought it 2nd hand from a elderly neighbour with 8 miles on the clock but he showed me the YouTube video he used and if I remember ( sorry I could be wrong as I was doing it while watching YouTube ) but hold left break in, power on, hold for 20 seconds, hold plus and minus, go to p08, go up to 100 and then plus and minus again to exit. I think that's what it was

Try doing a reset to factory defaults and start all over again.

GOGOBEST official YT channel seems to have instructions for reset as well as speed unlock.

Which LCD do you have?

I'm not sure it does not have any numbers on it to type, I found the controller on gogo bests website but they have yet to get back to me with the model, il attach the photo

I have tried but to no avail

It looks like a G51. Anyway, you have the instructions for it now, so that doesn't matter.

Do you have two separate controllers for your two motors? It looks like one in the box at the front bottom of the frame. What's in the bag at the top of the frame?

I think they both have separate controllers yes il upload the photos, only difference is the bottom one has alot more wires coming from it and the numbers at the far right vary but I think that's the date it's made

I'd need to see every wire and connector attached to the controller/s to figure out what you have before I can help with solving the problem.

Can you explain how it worked with the two motors. Which motor/s work with the throttle, and which with the pedal assist, and does the LCD adjust the power in one or both motors?

Just noticed this now, do you think it could of shorted or has it fried a controller

It might be OK. It depends how long you held the power on while they were shorted. Those connectors are pretty useless. It's better to solder the wires together and insulate them with two layers of heatshrink.

Saneagle thank you so much for your help,

The gears went on the front motor originally about a month ago and happened when on a hill a few miles from home so only the rear motor was driving me.

Replaced and worked fine since till Monday when it played up.

I've just cut the connectors off with battery disconnected and tried using screw connector blocks but to no avail. Il retake the photos now

Both motors work together I think , for pedal assist and with throttle tho I'm not sure. But that's what it felt like when riding . The LCD yes has 5 settings so I think setting one full throttle would be like 7mph , 2 maybe 11 mph, 3 - 15mph and 5 would be about 28mph

This is the controllers on the gogo best website as a pair, front and rear, do you think the controllers have fried due to the wires melting and fusing together

It depends which wires touch and for how long. You can damage the motor too. Was it just the two wires that melted? is there any chance that they melted and touched any of the thin wires?

You have two controllers. It's possible that one got damaged, but not both.

Whatever has happened, the only way out of it is to start testing, for which you need a normal multimeter. If you haven't got one, you have to borrow or buy one. They're less than £10 from Amazon, Ebay, etc. When you confirm that you have one, I'll explain how to test.

The wiring loos fairly straightforward and is the same as any ebike, except that they doubled up the throttle and possibly pedal assist wires from one controller to the other. You should be able to get going with at least one controller.

Yes only the blue and yellow wires touched on the thicker side, il try get a multimeter tommorow fingers crossed. Il grab a multimeter tommorow thank you so much

The testing is quite simple once you have the meter. It's just a question of following instructions, which you, thankfully, are very good at. That makes it a pleasure to help.

Hi saneagle, I've got a multimeter, just checked battery and it's showing 53.5 v and current is 30.7 don't have a clue what those mean, it's ment to be a 48v battery ?
  • Author
I'm not to clued up on using a multimeter so I'm hoping you can give me learner instructions haha

Can you show a picture of the front of the meter so I can tell you how to set it?

A 48v battery should be 54.6v when fully charged, and anything from there down to about 41v if not fully charged.
