Campaign urges drivers to ‘Leave Space For a Life’

"A new survey has found that more than a quarter of people in Scotland (27%) are unaware that driving carelessly or dangerously around cyclists can lead to a driving ban or prison sentence."

"Cycling Scotland says in collisions between bikes and vehicles, the person driving the vehicle is most often at fault.

Previous analysis of road collision injury data shows that 73% of the top five factors which contribute to a collision with a person cycling are assigned to the driver of the vehicle."

Give Cycle Space campaign

"Every week, four people in Scotland suffer serious injuries from vehicle collisions while cycling, and fear of road traffic is the biggest barrier to more people cycling."

In my area (Ceredigion) large rectangular blue signs have recently appeared on main routes. There is a graphic of a bike and a car with an arrow inbetween with 1.5M written on it.
I have to say it seems to be working and the number of close passes is reducing.

You need an Oxford lollipop on your handlebar! Drastically reduces close passes:

No close passes for years! This was the closest cut-in front overtake I've experienced since, years later. Closest recent cut-in, but not fast. Exactly the sort of driver which would have otherwise allowed me about an inch of space beyond the handlebar, resulting in a closer cutting in front.

...unlike before, wish I'd had a lollipop deployed then:
