Giant Revive Spirit

Featured Replies

Hi, I wonder if anyone help me,

I have a Giant Revive Spirit electric bicycle and I need some info on the electric parts of the bike, the manual I have is for the conventional pedal powered version only. So no instructions to explain the controls e.g. throttle, cruise button, using the charger, battery maintenance, etc.

Thanks for any help you can give,

Aldby

Yes, it's an odd system at first glance Aldby.

The power is brought in by pressing the big red button, and away you go to around 12 mph. The motor runs from then to 15 mph but as you'll know, isn't doing much at that point.

That's the default setting, which Giant call "Pedal Activated Power", whioch uses the least current from the battery. For hill climbing you can wind in extra power using the twistgrip, and if it's a long climb and you don't want the hassle of holding the throttle at your chosen setting, you can use the "Cruise" button to lock it at that setting. If you use extra power in that way, it does shorten the range of course.

And that's it for the rider operation.

The battery is a Lithium Ion type, and they are best used with frequent charging, every time you use the bike. If you run these to empty every time, they tend to have a shorter life. Otherwise you don't need to bother with the battery, just charge and use.

And really that's the total it's necessary to know about the operation of the electrical side of your bike, I hope that's of help to you.

I'm sorry to hear that there's no appropriate manual with the electric version, not like Giant's usual service. This model was delayed beyond the original launch date, so perhaps they didn't want to delay any further, but in that case, they should have arranged with dealers to forward details so that you could have a manual later for this premium product.
