Selling for spares or repair - based near Uxbridge UB10

This is the Comfort model, that has front fork suspension and four speed Shimano gears

Panasonic charger works perfectly

Battery charges to full charge (five lights). Due to state of frame unable to test range, but have happily ridden a mile in the local park with no issues

Crank electric motor also appears fine

Have one key for locking the battery into the frame

No keys for the AXA rear wheel lock

You are welcome to test by riding yourself in our off road area

My bike shop advised the rear wheels drop outs on the frame have been stretched, so not safe to ride. Gear change cable also broken. Bike shop suggested that an aluminium worker could anneal the aluminium frame to re-align the rear wheel drop outs

Information for anyone interested in buying this, the rear drop-out stretch is a well known fault with these Lafree models. Editor of A to B magazine David Henshaw who is a fan of the Lafree also suffered this and repaired in the way shown on this link to my Lafree website.

I just used oversize washers on my Lafree which also suffered the same stretch.

Could torque arms be used to cure this?
I doubt it, the problem was mainly that the alloy grade and thickness allowed the slot to open out when the wheel nuts were done up tightly. As it opened up and wheel nuts were retightened, the problem steadily got worse.

The origin of this was Giant's efforts to achieve minimal bike weight in 2002. It was introduced weighing just 22 kilos, which included a 4.1 kilo NiMh battery, 25 kilo capacity rear carrier, mudguards, mudflaps, dynamo lighting, AXA wheel lock, bell etc.

They just went that bit too far in weight paring. When Kalkhoff mimicked it with the Agattu model in 2007, including the same equipment level, it weighed 26 kilos and was strong enough.
