Hello to everyone on the forum.

I have recently purchased my first e bike, an ex demo giant escape hybrid 1. My short 3 mile commute to work is across 2 parks and I wondered if anyone has tried to modify this model of bike to power assist above 15 mph? I have a slight hip problem and would like the power assist to help me out at a higher speed on the off road part of my journey, which accounts for 90% of the trip.

Thanks in advance for any advice given.

Just be aware that the parks are not, "off road" as far as road traffic law is concerned. The choice is yours, just wanted to make you aware of this fact.

50 Hertz is correct.

The Road Traffic Acts apply to anywhere the public has access to.

The speed limit is most likely controlled by software, accessed either by pressing a secret combination of buttons on the display, or cable/ bluetooth from a PC. Is there a magnet on a spoke in the rear wheel, in which case move it away from the sensor, otherwise it'll pick up speed signals from inside the motor, in which case no way of fooling it.

If its got a controller like the Suede it has an adjustment through a hole in the bottom, but I think this might be the one that had regen, which makes it different. Flecc might know more.

This Escape version doesn't have regen or a rear wheel magnet, just a controller with PAS and no throttle. I've no idea if its controller has a shunt which might be modified to gain a little more in speed and power.

I ride the same machine, allow I'm happy with it's performance at 15mph, I do find that I tend to cruise at 17mph. I'm pretty sure that US version of the controller doesn't have the 15mph limit, not sure how you would get one over here though.

I have a good look at the back wheel and i cant see a magnet anywhere. I assume it would be connected to one of the spokes.
