Giant e-road crank removal

Thought I would pull them off for a clean but it looks different to other bikes I have done. Any ideas?

Standard square taper AFAICS. What's different?

When I screw this tool in and tighten it to pull off the arm nothing happens.

you need one like that with just the black part to remove it with a square taper

On tother bike the crank is on a splined shaft and I have the puller that gets them off easily whereas this one looks to be threaded all the way in.

I can't see the photos, but you need a smaller head on your extraction tool, some have a removable head on.

So it pushes inside the black nut thing that's in there?

Yep that did it. Take the big silver thing off the extractor and it worked. Cheers artstu.

The area the tool needs to fit into to contact the end of the square taper is smaller than the ones you're used to, SW's photo shows the size differences.

i should of thought a "Park Tool cc-p44 would get that off straight away

I have the tool in my halfords kit but I didn't know to take the big silver end off first... live and learn.
