Does anybody know the exact maximum weight on the new Giant Twist carrier? The manual says 15 kgs. but a shop in Italy sold one to a friend of mine with a child seat on it, saying that the carrier is marked 25 kgs. so there are no problems.

I kwow that this bicycle has had some changes and that Giant uses to spare on manuals :D - but I'm a bit worried (couldn't it be: 25 kgs minus the batteries' weight = 15 kgs?). Is there an easy way to give some extra support to the carrier? (more pictures here)

That looks like the answer Leonardo. That is a typical 25 kilo carrier, so normally the batteries weight has to be deducted to leave a 15 kilos luggage rating, but here there's a difference. Instead of one small bolt at the base it has two, plus a stronger than usual front support. Therefore I think I'd be happy to risk as much as 25 kilos on top of the batteries.

There's an easy way to make sure though. The weak point is the small base bolts, so you could add a thick triangular plate each side. This would be cut with a hole for the hub spindle and it's top edge against the bottom of the carrier plate. The wheel nuts would be tightened with the plate hard up against the bottom of the carrier plate, so downthrust would be carried by the spindle as well as the two small bolts.
