Are there any interesting changes ahead for pedelecs from the big boys? Is Bosch working on a smaller more powerful (lighter) motor or battery or is this wishful thinking? hat about the impulse thing?

One of my friends linked me to this on facebook the other week but then he seems to link to battery tech or something about graphine being the new super material every few days.

Wood is key ingredient in cheap rechargeable battery - tech - 21 June 2013 - New Scientist

Mildly funny that the headline makes you think of a phone with some twigs shoved in the back or an ebike with a log in the middle but the tech seems like it could work. My guess will be the electric motorbike boffins who are slaving away at the moment will come up with something that could double as pedelec tech if scaled down or phone battery boffins things that scale up.

Have heard rumours of exciting developments by Bosch for 2014. However we are going to EuroBike in late August where we will see what what developments are planned. I am sure there will be plenty of new developments planned for 2014.

Oh, lordy; something else I didn't know I didn't understand... any chance of a cake powered bike? Cakes contain sugar, sugar burns ... heat is energy ... energy propels bikes ... how am I doing, Flecc?

I'm about to license this wonderous system, so if any of you ebike manufacturers are interested....I call it SETIMI

(staggered energy transfer via indirect motion incentives)

and yes...of course you can pay in cake !

You're doing well Tom, on the right lines. Doesn't have to be sugar, any other sweet carbohydrate will do to gain quick energy, note the number of Wimbledon tennis players who hastily eat a banana between sets.

But the rider has to be the intermediary, unless the food is turned into biofuel.
