Hey what do people think of this bike its a full carbon fibre electric bike with a 250W motor. Is this thing safe, when I was asking about building an ebike I was told to avoid CF at all costs. Does this bike mean that CF bikes can be electrified or is this bike itself not safe.

I myself wouldn't buy this like I wouldnt buy any CF bike anyway as one crash = 12k down the drain.

What do people think of this?

its a rip off tbh most of the cost of that bike is in the frame and a cf frame dont cost that much.

I consider most premade e-bikes to be a ripoff tbh. You can get a kit and battery for about £500 and a good frame for about £200ish thats with hydraulic brakes and that.

Go onto the internet and manufacturers are selling steel framed heavy bikes for 3 grand.

If theyv done this do people think its now safe to get a Carbon fibre road bike? Say one that costs you a grand and throw a 250W front hub motor for the same results maybe even lighter?

Front motors and carbon forks are a risky combo.
It you had your own strong forks made then ok but high speed face plants are bad news.
Not worth the risk

those wheels are 3k a set if you wanted to buy them but then still 10k for the rest?

it just dont add up parts wise as motor and batt £1300 so if you can get a bike under 2k then its a good deal as you cant buy the bosch motors on there own.

some members have the carbon cube bike but its a hard tail and no problems reported so far.

this is worth a watch.

Wow! That was really interesting and for me a good education in Carbon frames. I've noticed a couple of the Chinese low-end e-bike "fodder-factories" starting to offer Carbon frames as part of their lower-cost e-bike offerings (much lower cost than the German and Dutch makers anyway). If even Giant and Specialised can get it wrong, these Chinese mass-market carbon-based e-bikes are probably best avoided, especially given the extra stresses an e-bike is subjected to!

I would not mind a high end carbon ebike. Yes it would be lighter and have better spec components. You get what you pay for. Presently, I have a Haibike Trekking RC that meets my needs very well. To match the weight and performance of a carbon version, all I have to do is loose the ten pounds I gained over Christmas :D

Good point. Some people are happy to pay thousands of pounds to get a bike that weighs 1kg less. Most of us can probably save 10kg for nothing. In fact, you can save money on food to spend on your bike.

Last winter, I lost 15 kg from 105kg. The difference when riding my bike was amazing, especially on the hills. Before, I needed to go up most steep hills in my winch gear (two-speed motor). After I could fly up in high gear.

When you're down to your fighting weight, a carbon bike makes sense.

IMHO a total waste of money, couldn't agree more with Steve. I now only have my ebike, but previously owned a Colnago C59 race bike with Campy super reg eps (which let me down all the time). I put full carbon campy bora 2 wheels on only to realise they had a limited life due to carbon hub wear and are really only a special event race wheel. I was stupid enough to pay over £10k for bike build and sold it some three years later for just over £3k. A huge loss. I learned my lesson.
I bought the Haibike RX vs PRO as for me I didn't think the extra cost was worth it, and certainly wouldn't get my money back on it.

The Colnago was a very light bike and on a very good day you could get up to over 30mph and maintain it for some time, but not worth the plus 10k budget and huge loss.

It is the law of diminishing return.

On a road racing bike with no motor it all depends on the engine sat on the saddle (heart, lungs and legs),weight and fancy wheels make little difference within reason.I have been in first cat road races were riders have won on sub £1k bikes.
One time someone was on the line on a bike that looked like he`d pulled it out of the canal and then won on the sprint finish after a hard 78 miles.

Agree with nemesis, and totally my point. Carbon is a waste on an e-bike. I was a reasonably fit rider and yes a super light carbon road bike makes a bit on difference, but not that much.
