Friction and noise in a Cute motor >> disassembled >> should I go deeper?

Hello all.

I've this Q128C motor, bought from BMSbattery a few months back. All is good with it, however it has developed quite a bit of friction and an increasingly high-pitched whining noise as the RPM ramps up. So I decided to open it up and see if there's some obvious culprit I could identify. I reached this stage without anything looking worn or damaged:

46019

Here I have removed the clutch, the planetary gear, the axle, and the nylon reduction gears. The central pinion in the picture is the one that transfers motion from the motor to the nylon gears. Below it, is the - enclosed - electric motor. Rotating the axle by hand requires significant force (quite a bit more than what was required when the motor was brand new), and it is obvious that the friction and whining noise come from the bearing below the pinion and/or from whatever is going on inside the motor.

The question is: should I go deeper? I can disassemble the motor, I guess (there are 6 Philips screws on the flip side of this), but is it worth it? what would I expect to find in there that would be "repairable"? Am I risking irreparable damage to the motor, or is it easy to open and peek inside? Anyone done this?

Thank you all, once more, and I'd be happy to receive your wisdom.
