Hello all, I have seen a trapezoid frame is one choice I can make for the bike I am considering, It was suggested that since I only have a 30" inside leg that it might be more comfortable for me? When I saw it as an option I initially thought it was a female frame. My question might sound odd but I wont look a bit of a tool as a bloke if I get it will I?
Regards
Si

Trapezoid frames are now popular because of the design. It gives you maximum clearance from the crossbar, when off roading, all still allows the rest of the frame geometry to remain normal. While it is true that both men and women use them, it does not come across as girly when a man rides one. It comes across as functional. Regardless of the frame style, the frame size to match your leg length is the most imortant consideration.

Hi Emo, thanks for reply, still a bit confused, I know its opinion but you said " it does come across as girly"? the problem is my inside leg is 30", I was advised that I should consider that type of frame, my height is 5'7. I guess otherwise a 50cm crossbar is the other choice?, thanks for helping.

PS there is a 46cm also?

Sorry, I meant to say does not look girly. Sorry the wife was talking to me as I posted and didn't proof read before hitting send. Frame size is determined by the distance from the centre of the crank to the top of the down tube where the seat post fits. A trapezoid 50cm frame and a regular 50cm frame is the same size. Go to the shop and sit on the bikes after the staff set the proper seat post height and pick what is both comfortable and fits your cycling needs.

There may frames avaiable that are smaller than 50cm for the type of bike you want but 50cm should be about right for your leg length.

You could always grow a beard:).
Just to be serious, I would agree with Emo Rider, the important thing is that it's the right size and you are comfortable on it.
Usually things that are right tend to look right.
