Frame mounted battery

Hi,
Im looking into whether it is advisable to add a frame mounted battery to my step-through e-bike. The bike is an old Synergie Breeze with a rear rack battery which is dying on me, so im looking for a new battery and to balance the bike better i thought id add a frame mounted battery instead. The thing is, there are no water bottle holes to fix it to, so my question is, would tapping new holes weaken the frame so much it wouldnt be safe and If this is the case, are there any secure alternatives?

Any advice on this and where to get a new 36v battery from would be very much appreciated. Thanks

I've added rivnuts to a few frames. It won't do any harm. Go for it.

I have been riding on a steel frame with two ten p sized rips in the frame for months !

Thanks, ive decided to go for it and get a frame mounted battery. I could use some help with which type and where to buy one from please. I have a Cycletricity 250/500w kit 36v, controller: KT36ZWSRM-XFC01R.

I use it a lot off road with throttle so need help choosing the right cell to use. Ive seen a few Hailong and whale type batteries with either 29E or 30Q cells, from my research the power off button on whales seems to be the better choice with 30Q cells. Am i on the right track in thinking 30Q cells would fit my needs better?

I have a budget of around £300 so looking at getting highest ah i can. Ive added the specs off my controller.

The 30Q's will be a better long term investment, as they will last longer than the 29E's. As in less degradation over time, not capacity!

Yes, I'd go for 30Qs. There's cells with more capacity, but they have lower discharge rates. When you use the lower discharge ones at normal ebike currents, they never reach their theoretical capacity anyway and you end up with the same real capacity as the 30Qs.
