Ok please correct me if I'm wrong.... but.....

To convert my (other) bike to electric all I need is any 36V battery (I am soon to have a spare one of those) - any 36V 250W controller (they seem pretty easy to get hold of on ebay) - and any 36v? throttle? Yes?

So long as they're all 36V and 250W stamped they will all work together is this right?

All I need is a half decent wiring diagram and a non-alcohol fueled brain, some memory of O-level Physics (not a lot just some) and I should be able to wire it all up and gaffa tape it to the bike. Yes?

Any answer would be great - thanks.

Obviously I am also thinking I will need a wheel with a 250W motor in it. I did think that too. Honest.

Yes, quite a few members have used BMS Battery with success. What you're proposing is fine, you may get caught for import duty and VAT so factor that into your prices just in case. One recommendation ex member d8veh used to make was order two of the smaller items as they are cheap IE: Like the controller and throttle so you have a spares...takes about 6 weeks to arrive AFAIK. Use PayPal for security.

In case it's not obvious then the only thing to worry about is of matching a brushless motor to a brushless controller.

OK thanks - seems odd that you might get charged VAT and import duty..... I would have thought you either do or you dont! Anybody know how much import duty is? At this rate its going to be almost as cheap to get a kit from a UK stockist and avoid the hassle...

Import duty is 6% on built bikes and kits.
You then add on the delivery cost and finally VAT is added to the whole total, at 20%

Yep, you may as well get a kit from a uk supplier....

I ordered from BMS........had to pay a small amount of duty but overall I thought that they were very good and a cost effective way to get kit and battery. Had kit fitted and running now for several months and am pleased with it.

Errr no, its hit or miss, depends on who clears the good through customs...sometimes I have to pay other times stuff comes through without charge...
