Folding pedals

I (once again) bashed my shin with the pedal putting the bike away so I've decided it's time to get some folding pedals. I've seen them up to £80 which is out of my budget, but ebay have some at the £10 - £15 mark. Anyone have any experience of these ones, or ones at a similar price point? My first thoughts are to get the Canyon's, but having never seen any never mind tried them words of advice are welcomed/needed.

I have messed around a lot with folding pedals. I am split between folding and removable pedals. Folding pedals tend to have flatter sufaces i.e. are not caged and do not always have as much grip. They also tend to be smaller. The only folding pedal I really like is the one on my Brompton.

This is a thread on another site where I purchased some cheaper removable pedals direct from Taiwan. Cheaper ones thend to have sealed bearings whereas more expensive ones have removable/replacable bearings.

New Wellgo QRD Quick Release Pedals

Here is a picture as well

Fitted folding pedals a couple of years ago to our folding bikes got them from eBay for about a tenner and they have been great, worth every penny. WOW £80 for pedals, what was special about those?

These look good. I didn't come across them when searching bay (you've got to get the search terms just right). I think they look a bit of a better bet than the ones I'd found.

Update- I found some Wellgo QRD-C128 Bicycle Bike Pedals Cr-Mo Axle for just £18 so I've ordered them. Not much above the original budget and they look much better pedals. Many thanks!

I have known that this kind of thing has existed for a while now, but only in relation to Bromptons and the like. But this is an excellent idea - I had never joined the dots!!

That looks like just the sort of thing I need! I've scraped my ankles many times trying to put the bike away. The other thing is that I've been taking corners faster and lean in the turns more, the pedal scrapes on the road, unless I anticipate the turn in advance and keep the pedal on that side up. And making turns onto a road hump/raised pedestrian crossing I've had the same problem with the pedals striking the ground. Not had an accident yet but it feels like the bike wants to go over. Looking at the metal pedals there's small chunks missing out of it from where it's scraped.

Would prefer a set of metal, heavy duty folding pedals.

Unfortunately they don't lift up on corners, they are fixed like normal ones when fitted. The pedal part detaches for storage. It's saving the shins and less space when parked. The Wellgo ones are metal and replaceable, with a few designs. There were metal folding ones (again, fixed in position while in use and folded for storage) up to 70 or 80 pounds- probably there are more expensive ones.

These are Wellgo's folding pedals, and this is the part of the removable ones that fit in the crank arm. I can't find the pedals on wellgo's site now for some reason, but do a search on ebay and set the location to worldwide to get more choices.

No problem I have been pleased with mine which are not as good as the ones you just found. As you say they are not easy to find on ebay. If you check the UK bike sites those ones are up around £60 or so !

Actually these are the ones I think that sell for £60 here
