I picked these out because of the Hub gears, I have a dislike of deraileur types. Also they appear to have a good range, especially the Qwic. I like the idea of 7 gears but the UM30 has only 3 - is that much of an issue? The UM 30 can be had for £699 - a good price, presumably because it is discontinued. The Wisper has an excellent description, going into detail about the stainless steel and alloy parts that won't rust - just what I like to hear. Can't find much detail about the C-FN7 but it is the most expensive, I would have liked to know what I am paying for here. So, any ideas, any others I haven't found yet? Must be 20" wheel though and have a good range.

I love your optimism in modern day stainless steel! I mounted German made SKS mudguards on my GF's bike a couple of months back. The "stainless" struts are already stained...

Maybe have a look at the Winora Radius, another three gear bike: https://www.electricbikesales.co.uk/HAIBIKE-WINORA-RADIUS-ELECTRIC-CITY-BIKE There is also the Bluelabel Pony: https://amps.bike/product/bluelabel-pony-city/ If you are feeling lucky, you might like to take a look at the Kalkhoff Sahel: http://www.kalkhoff-bikes.com/en/bikes/e-bike/e-urban.html Before you go for the Kalkhoff, have a VERY careful read about the problems people have been experiencing with the Impulse 2 motor. [EDITED - I forgot one!] This one is about the same price as the Radius and the Wisper: http://justebikes.co.uk/products/quipplan-q20-f08-plus-city/

My suggestions are all way more expensive than the ones that you already have looked at. AMPS.bike also offer the Wisper 806 Torque, so there's an opportunity to compare them there. The owner of that firm posts frequently here, so he might be able to give you some advice.

I use 4gears most of the time. 4,5,6,8 That covers starting and hill climbing and descending. Without power I would also need gears 1,2,3. I also use 7 but it's an intermediate not as nessisary as the others.
But I have speed range of 6 to 32 mph in normal use.
If you are happy with assist and 3 to 16 mph on flat land then three gears will do it.
If you want to work yourself and climb hills and go fast down them then more gears are required.

Hi Chris

We have four different folding e-bikes in stock plus the R&M Pony (compact bike, only the handlebars fold). This includes the Wisper 806SE and FreeGo Folding both of which have larger battery options which should meet your needs. I would recommend trying a few out to see what is likely to suit your requirements.

Good luck

Kind regards,
David
