Hi everyone, after some help on a Focus Whistler ebike with a Bafang motor/controler and the integrated bottom bracket sensor.

the bike works great but when I hit the speed limiter the battery turns off, I don’t just mean temporarily until my speed comes down, I actually have to stop and restart the battery! Any thoughts on this?

thanks
Stu

The battery is tripping out because it can't supply the current for whatever reason. By Bafang motor, do you mean BBS01 or what. If it is BBS01, rry using a lower gear.

It's a hub-motor, so different story. The first thing to check is that the motor connector is pushed in all the way to the line, not just in tight. Come back and confirm when you've checked that the edge of the connector comes exactly to the line, or show a photo of it.

Strange, it doesn’t cut out when I’m climbing steep hills, only when I’m flying down them! I disconnected the feedback to the battery so I just have positive and negative connected and it still happens so I guess it’s either shorting when it hits the limit or as you say it can’t supply current under certain conditions. It’s the same with 2 different batteries. I can’t look at the electronic circuit as it’s filled with sealant

What I said only applies to crank-drives. A hub-motor puts the battery under stress at low speed. Check the cable at both ends.
