I thought the plug was not fitted so the the wiring could fit through a small hole, lol

When you do fit the plug then just copy the colours on the socket side, red to red and so on

Thanks Dave, noted :) I don't know where my brain is lately.

Carefully matched the pins (first time I fitted one of those connectors, was a bit nervous and thought it would be a b*tch) they went in easily..pushed them home with a little jewellers screwdriver until they clicked... and then fired it up, this time with one end resting on desk and the other end held securely in a pair of pliers to try and keep it level :D It purred like a good 'un. Really surprised how quiet the Q100 is..even going full throttle that close..I bet wouldn't even notice it on the road. Very smooth acceleration and big grin.. I will upload the video as soon as YouTube lets me.

Import VAT bonus

I just received my VAT & Duty letter today from FedEx for the recent delivery of my BMS Battery parts..

Only £7 import VAT and Duty!!! Whoohoo.

There's a copy of a BMS invoice attached (which interestingly wasn't in the package, so either Border Agency or FedEx lifted it) which says "wheelchair parts, not commercial..samples, $60 value".

FedEx have added their £10 "advancement fee" (or should that be "profit accelerator bonus") which naturally, I shall be leaving off when I transfer my payment for the £7 VAT later. :p

FINALLY received my freewheel from China yesterday (ordered on 27th November) and it's now on its way to Catsnapper along with the motor for assembly into a wheel rim...

If the weather stays this mild and frost-free, I may be riding it soon before spring :)

Wheel arrived!

I received my wheel today delivered overnight from Catsnapper, all built up and ready to be fitted to the bike!!!

It looks excellent. I can't wait to get it fitted and may tackle it after work tonight. The ice is almost gone around here so it would be ideal for a test ride today..but more snow is forecast to fall tomorrow and for the next few days so I'm not sure I'll be able to get out on it tomorrow..but we'll see...fingers crossed! It's bloody cold, but who cares..I want to ride it!

I must say, Alan (Catsnapper) has been a real gentleman and professional to work with when it comes to building wheels. Kept in regular contact and provided an incredibly fast service...the wheel came really well packaged too. I've got a nice 7-spd shift off him which will save me from sourcing one as the motor wheel now has a 7-spd freewheel. Going electric meant sacrificing my Mezzo's 9-spd cassette..but I'm hoping the gears are still nice and smooth at 7-spd...we shall see :)

I've been videoing each stage of the conversion this time which may prove interesting to anyone considering a conversion and wondering what's involved... I hope to be able to upload them as a series and post the links here eventually..YouTube is being incredibly slow lately so I may have to use another video hosting site.

Disaster! I didn't notice but the wheel rim supplied is silver and my bike is black so it doesn't match the black front rim :( And to make matters worse, Catsnapper tells me that 349mm 36h rims are not available in black! Only from one company in USA for £40. This is quite a set back.

I suppose I could wait for another freewheel and order one of those expensive rims from USA and try selling this silver wheel with 7-spd 11-28T and Q100 motor. Else I guess I could dismantle it to save time and just source another rim from China and have Catsnapper re-build it. Hmmm not sure what to do. Just blown £45 then on getting this built in that case.. this conversion is getting expensive!

Does anyone know any sources in UK or China for suitable rims, black, 349mm 36h?

Heh..it just doesn't look right or suit my taste. It's got to be black or nothing.

Did you read my edit above?

Ok blackening sounds good... if you have a link that would be grand..

Else if you wanted to buy it, or anyone else for that matter, I'd let it go for cost price.. it's not been fitted or used of course.

You'll let it go at cost, so where's the incentive to buy, lol

Just respoke the front hub into a silver rim to get a matching pair. You'll have all the spokes and hub already so it'll be a doddle and there are a few shops will true the built wheel for very little. Or blacken the rear one as Old_Dave suggests. If you go out on these filthy roads at the moment, your rims will be black with dirt in no time at all anyway :).

Do the front hub with radial spoking ;)

Maybe it already is.

I've got a couple of their 16" rims, but they're a different size to the Mezzo/Dahon ones (Chinese inches instead of English).
