Good afternoon
I am looking to change E bike and therefore selling my Whoosh Faro 17ah , 18 months about 500 mile no problems or faults, tyres changed to schwalbe marathon 32. What would be a fair price to ask for the bike, I have no idea at all about second hand ebike market.

Thanks Blaster

Years ago I established a formula for fixing second hand e-bike prices which many have followed. Given the current new price for your 17Ah model is £1239, the following range would be fair asking prices for your bike, using more up to date information on battery lives:

Low asking price = £830

High asking price = £900

My original article is no longer online, but its original text I'm showing below if you wish to read it. As mentioned I've adjusted it somewhat to value your bike to take into account greater knowledge now:

The battery of a pedelec can be an extremely expensive item which doesn't last anywhere near as long as th rest of the bike. Therefore it's best to treat them separately when assessing the value of the whole:

E-bike lithium battery residual values.

First decide the lithium battery's probable life when new. Currently Li-ion batteries costing around £200 to £300 can be considered to have about two years life on average. Expensive batteries costing over £400 and LiFePO4 types can often last to three or more years. Therefore in the following first line of the text use half for the low cost first battery group or two thirds for that second battery group

One year old battery: Half/two-thirds the current replacement cost of a battery is established to give half/two-thirds value left.

In the following line use zero for the low cost group or one-third for the second battery group.

Two year old battery: zero/one-third value left.

For ages in between in each of the above cases, the price established should be pro-rata, and in cases where the battery has been replaced at some point, the same pro-rata rule can be used against it's age. Older than three years, no residual battery value.

The start point of the e-bike's separate value is established by deducting the current new battery price from the original purchase price and then a depreciation percentage is deducted in the same manner as for other vehicles. The early years depreciation quite high as is usual, nobody wants to buy the VAT again:

I year old bike: 25%
2 year old bike: 35%
3 year old bike: 45%
4 year old bike: 55%
5 year old bike: 60%
6 year old bike: 65%
7 year old bike: 70%
8 year old bike: 75%
9 year old bike: 80%

Then to the discounted price of the bike only, any residual value of the battery as established above is added back to give the fair second hand price. The percentage reduction scale is based on e-bikes in good condition for their age. Adjust prices downwards for poorer condition and upwards for excellent condition.

Hi Flecc thanks for taking the time to reply with a really useful post, the bike is like new and I think I will advertise it at £750 after reading your reply. I need to look into possible posting options.
Does anyone here have suggestion of best place to advertise it ?

Thanks

Good electric bikes are still in short supply and with the good weather starting, now's a good time to start selling one. You shouldn't have to drop your price at all.

We have our own Classified section on this link which you could try first.

Other members may have other suggestions. Being bank holiday there may not be many members around until Tuesday.

One can post it on Woosh web site used page for free, contact Hatti to do so.
Also on this website under the classified section.

Hi Nealh
Thanks for the reply, think I will give Whoosh a call as they were really good when purchasing, didn't realise they had a used bike tab on the site. The Gran Camino is a possible for me to change to anyway due to some medical issues :)

The used bikes tend to sell quickly on the site and with the current market and availability one should have no issue selling it for that money.
