EZEGO odd battery fault

Featured Replies

Hi there. I wondered if anyone can help with a battery issue I have on my EZEGO Step bike?

The batter is a 11.6 Ah 36V like this one here https://ezego.bike/product/36v-11-6ah-rear-carrier-battery/

The issue is that the battery works fine if its straight off the charger (even if not fully charged) but if I leave the battery for a few hours (happens if its left both on and off the bike) it appears completely dead... can't turn on the bike, cant even check battery capacity (4 green leds on the back of the casing).... Nada.

Pop it back on the charger for ~1 min and it comes back to life and acts as normal.

Otherwise the battery has plenty of capacity and range seems generally good. Obviously this makes using the bike rather stressful and multi stop trips without taking the battery off and charging are impossible.

Maybe some odd BMS behaviour?

Battery/bike is only about 14 months old and has covered around 1000 miles.

Hi Mark

The link you've given in your post says that battery has a "Smart BMS with Sleep Mode". Sleep Mode is where the battery shuts itself down after an hour or so to save energy. The usual way to wake it back up is to hold the power button down for a few seconds - sometimes up to 10 or 20 seconds depending on brand. If still unsure how to wake it up check with ezgo?
