We just delivered our latest conversion today, it's a beautifully made Circe Helios compact tandem with 20" wheels to which we fitted an eZee Mk2 kit with downtube battery.

The frame offered the possibility of having the battery located in 4 different postions and the customer opted to have it on the front downtube.

They spent all that money on a conversion, but they couldn't afford decent saddles!

Actually no Dave, what you can't see from the photo is the Brooks saddles which have covers on.

Is it like when people used to pay extra for a velour car seats, and then leave the plastic covering on so that they wouldn't get dirty?

The covers are ther to keep the saddles dry when not in use, they don't ride with the covers on:rolleyes:

Brooks saddles need rain, sun and sweat plus maybe one or two other things for the leather to go just right. It's daft to cover them up. If you try my neighbour's old B17 that he got free with a very old road bike, you'll know what I mean. After trying it, I immediately ordered one only to find that my new one was useless, so was removed and assigned to the spares box while I scoured Ebay for the oldest one I could find. I now have a nicely run in B67 and B66, both of which are extremely comfortable.

Neat conversion John, battery fine there giving short cable runs for a compact installation. It's strange how 20" wheels suit tandems so well, compared to solo bikes, little wonder the proportion of them has been so high in the tandem world.

The couple that own it are both 81 and cycle regularly in the UK but also in France.

you're right about Brooks saddles Dave, they are a biological disaster area when they have broken you in!
Yes I did mean the person in the singular ,and not the saddle, lucky for me I got on with mine, been friends nearly thirty years now.( the same saddle in my sig pic!
