What's the consensus on the football so far. Although not a massive football fan I do like a good game with plenty of cut and thrust. For me there have been periods of exciting play and periods of boredom. The one thing that strikes me is the corruption of the sport in pursuit of win at any costs. Some of the cynical fouls are surely not what ''the beautiful game'' is about. Some of the players are incredibly skilled and gifted but are all too often hacked down when passing an opponent. Even the commentators are saying 'he should have brought him down etc. To me that is not what sport should be about.

The only problem i have with major football tournaments....... is the high hopes that are always followed by crushing disappointment. 50 years of hurt now.
But this time.... just maybe....
See, i just cant help it.

I don't watch the games, since that avoids the boredom. The late night highlights which are mainly the goals and results suits me fine.

Agree on the fouls, I've taken issue with that ever since the term "professional foul" was first coined long ago. There's nothing professional about them. Sending off and a one match ban for every one should bring it back under control and clean the game.

The European Union
For next time a stadium could be reserved for "fans". Lock them in for a couple of days and then do a body count. Country with the most dead "fans" wins!

When is the rugby on?

I think some of the referees should have gone to specsavers(lol) . Some of the things that go on unpunished in the penalty box are so blatant. Outside the box they are penalised??. If the refs laid out the case at the start of the match it would be a much better spectacle (no pun intended).
