Hi all,

First post here so go easy on me please. ;-)

Today we picked up a bit of a project PowaCycle Windsor. It all seems to be there and the rear wheel spins (electrically) when you turn the pedals, so far so good.

However the throttle wiring isn't connected and I think some of the other wiring is non-std so I may need some help / advice around that (I'm ok with the doing of any of it as long as I know what I should be doing).

The final role of said bike is for a ~16 mile, fairly flat commute for the Mrs in the better weather (whilst she's no athelete she's not got bad stamina for a 59 yr old and is a fair stoker on our tandem). ;-)

The last ime I was on a pedelec it was my Sinclair C5 ... and my EV pulls 200A on the flat. ;-)

Cheers, T i m

Hello,

Please ignore me if this is of no use, but on the PowaCycle Windsor, the on/off switch is sometimes a three stage thing:

Off
Pedal assist only
Pedal assist and throttle

Therefore it is possible for the pedal assist to be working, but the throttle to not work until you flick the on/off switch further forward.

I hope this helps.

Cheers,

Martin

Hi Martin and thanks for the reply.

Sorry, the throttle doesn't work because it's not connected. ;-)

Whilst I don't know it to be the case I have no reason to believe it won't work when I connect it back up.

On that then, does this sound right please: (wire colours).

Throttle > Controller.
Red > Red
White > Green
Black > Yellow

I'm also looking for some of those mini in-line connectors they use to hook the things like the throttle to the controller. Any ideas from where please?

Cheers, T i m

No surprises that wires aren't connected, I'd expect this with kits but not a complete bike assembly as sold over the counter.

I have two powacycles, neither are a Windsor, the wires seem to change randomly. Quite confusing! Proper wiring diagrams should be provided with every powacycle handbook

Bike 1
Throttle>controller

Red>Red
Black>Black
Green>white

Bike 2 (5 wires from the throttle cable)
Throttle>controller

3 pin connector
Red>Red
Green>Red+green
Yellow>Black

Plus 2 pin connector
Brown>Blue
Blue>Black

I'm not sure if the latter Brown and blue wires are redundant?

Standard red bullet connectors will suffice,
Usual electronic stores will stock multi pin connectors

Just to be clear, we bought this as a second hand semi-new project, not directly from PowaCycle or a dealer.

I bet!

Ah, wasn't given one of those by the PO. ;-(

Oooerr (and noted). I guess it shouldn't be too hard to test the throttle connections at the controller end. Would one be +5V, another 0v and the other the input voltage back from the pot (assuming they are just variable resistors in the throttle itself)?

Hmm, generic ones possibly but it looks like only Farnell so far for matching mini ones for my controller (unless you have some more info for me)? ;-)
