Hi folks,

I am in the uk and have a tricycle with an electric front wheel system. Sadly when I have a little shopping on board it struggles to pull me up hills. I need to upgrade it a bit and I would like to be able to buy an electrified front wheel with a bit more oomph. Can anyone tell me who would sell them? I dont want to send to China or anywhere else half way round the world. Thanks.

Can you give us a few more details of what you already have. A couple of photos would help.
What size and voltage battery have you got for a start?
Are you looking to replace the whole electrical system, or is your budget limited?

You can normally increase the climbing power by about 25% without having to change anything by adding some solder to the shunt in the controller, but your battery must be able to handle the extra power, so no god if it's already a bit tired.

Regarding your throttle problem. Yes it's easy to do. Yes there's likely to be lots of wires, so we need to know what you've got and then we can help.

We would need to know the make a model of your trike to check for compatibility, so please let me know.

Hi again,

By way of explanation I am a pensioner and live on a budget. in September of last year you may remember I had my first Trike stolen and now, with some help, I have an identical one. It has a 36v 6ah battery which has the controller enclosed inside it so I can not modify that. You will understand that having spent well over £2000 on trikes last year I was hoping to find a shop that might sell me a compatible wheel. I am told the motor is 250 watt but strangely there is is absolutely no info engraved on it anywhere. As far as I can see it could be anything.

Hi Frank,

This morning I weighed 11st. 7lb., I have a 20 in wheel and I live in Solihull W. Mids.

Thanks.

Hi John,

Your kits are very expensive. I am not saying they are not worth every penny only that I could never afford one.

Hi can you post some photos off the bike motor and battery all sounds good to me

Frank
You don't need a new motor, but you do need a new battery and controller, which will cost about £200. Are you OK with paying that much?

Hi les686,

Agreed, our kits are not cheap, but they are also not the most expensive either, we believe that they are value for money.

Obviously you don't need a complete kit, just the missing parts that are compatible with your trike.

As suggested by others, if you could post some photos, I am sure someone will be able help you without breaking the bank;)

Hi Frank,
I once before tried to post a picture on this site and it gave me so much trouble I vowed never to try it again. Is it possible to send them to your address off line?
Thank you.

The best way to post pictures is to use Photobucket or similar. It's totally free. You open up an account and then you can upload your photos there. When you open up any of your photos, there's a "links" box on the right with an "image links" tab. Click on that and you;ll see "img link"; click on that, which copies some code; then you co to your pedelecs post and paste it there; the code will appear in your post, but once posted, you'll see the picture in full detail without having to re-size it. It might sound complicated, but once you've done it, you'll see how easy it is.
