Anyone know of any coming up soon in the UK.

I'd like to visit one to see the various models along with future tech.

All the fun's gone now. We used to have several big events that were a lot of fun and gave us the chance to meet each other: Redbridge, Tour de Presteigne, Bristol World Championships. Now they all seem to be gone apart from some very small local shows and the faceless bike shows at Excel and NEC.

It's a shame that the attendance at these shows just doesn't justify the amount of effort organising one. I might resurrect Redbridge if Kudos has enough new product to get people interested.
Redbridge was the best venue for testing e-bikes with its hills, sweeping bends, fast straights and all safely away from traffic.
But,to expect someone to come down from the north of even the other side of London to test a few e-bikes just doesn't happen. The first time we ran Redbridge the whole industry invited everyone who could ride,it was a good event but still only a few hundred turned up,mostly from this forum.
What it needs is another round of Kudos roadshows, they worked well at a lot of effort but minimal cost, the one on the Manifold Trail was particularly well received, despite poor weather.
David Miall,Alastair-Atmosphere bikes,On-Bike,myself-Kudos have all had a go but it is hard to keep it going for several years.

Hi Dave, if you want to do a JV on holding another Presteigne type event I would certainly be up for it.

Do you remember the Presteigne slogan?

"Tour de Presteigne, like the Tour de France, but without the performance enhancing drugs."

All the best

A quick heads up....

OnBike is holding a Demo Day to enable all members of the public to come along and talk to our suppliers about electric bikes, and more importantly TEST RIDE the bikes for FREE!

The event is being held at Stourport Sports Club, Kingsway, Stourport-on-Severn DY13 8BQ on Sunday 3rd July from 11am to 5pm. It boasts a 1.4km purpose built cycle track where the bikes can be put through their paces safely and effectively. In addition, there will be hot & cold refreshments available all day as well as a bar – test riding bikes can be thirsty work!

There’s going to be a huge range of electric bikes available! All of OnBike’s prestigious brands will be represented, including KTM, SCOTT, Raleigh, BHBikes, Riese Muller, Lapierre, Gazelle and Moustache. Within these brands are a fantastic range of drive systems – Bosch (Active, Performance & CX), Panasonic, Yamaha, Brose and Impulse.

ALL ARE WELCOME...!!!

I would be more than happy to get together with a team to get a new Tour de Presteigne going!

Maybe in Kent?!!

Really if anyone wants to get one of these events underway let's work together to get it going.

The Presteigne weekends were amazing, maybe we should try and base what we do on the same format, over a weekend with a circuital ride for an hour around the town with the award for the best dressed ebiker etc. Even a race LEGAL race for the more athletic?

All the best, David

David....the Redbridge circuit is hard to beat as a venue,it has amazing facilities and its cheap.
I am awaiting all my new models due late June, early July.
I would be very keen to join in with a Redbridge event in say August.
When I return from my holiday I will look at organising another Redbridge.
Keep away from races, they are more trouble than they are worth and you do have the rider as an unknown element,a fit guy can obviously affect the result without fairly comparing the bike.

Looking forward to talking on your return David. Have a good time!

I understand races and hill climbs are more about the rider than the bike, that's of course if the bikes are legal, hence the reason we have never entered. However they are a lot of fun and create publicity before and after the event. I would be in favour of a competition of some kind, we should however get the riders to sign saying the bikes have not been tampered with and reserve the right at least to check out the controller, top speed etc of the winning three bikes. Imagine the controversy!!! :D

An hour circuit, I recon my legal one with a 3ah 10s lipo should last the course. A doubt anyone else would even try to beat that.:D

Lets face it, even if you ran a slow race, Oxygen would enter a top trials rider in order to win it.

Why not choose a venue that would interest eMTB users as well as road bike users.

Pippingford Park would make a brilliant venue. It has all the facilities that you could ever want, direct access from the A22, and offers both road riders and eMTB riders the perfect opportuntity to play.

I'd be up for taking part in an eMTB endurance race there, and it would also be nice not to get kicked out of the place for once. :D

Eddie...Redbridge has an off-road track inside the road track....we let customers put their own bikes on either track.
The only problem with Redbridge its miles from anywhere.
London Electric Bike Company will have an open day once the new Kudos range has settled in ,test rides through Bushy Park, lovely venue but no hills.
The Manifold Trail was a great event,Leek cycles is a good local dealer, the lady at the tea rooms was great and you could test ride along the flat along the trail or climb up to any of the villages either side of the valley. We stayed in a lovely b&b in Wetton village, great pub,Ye Olde Royal Oak,lovely people,it was hard work ,it rained hard after the event but whilst we were packing away, but very enjoyable, will try to repeat.
Would that be useful to them up north !
KudosDave
