Hey All,

Just to let you know electric bike buyers guide (produced by future publishing) is available now in newsagents. Should be in most WHSMITH stores but smaller newsagents may need to order in. Features 23 ebike reviews as well as reviewing other equipment. Price is £5.99. Also features first ever backflip on e bike (that I am aware of anyway).

Will not provide further spoilers but definately worth a read!

I have just finished looking through my copy, a really good read! Looking forward to digesting the whole lot over the weekend.

I must say I am delighted that against all that competition the Grace Easy was the only bike reviewed gaining the full five stars and the Wisper 905Classic one of only two awarded 4.5 stars! It makes all the hard work well worth while. The Riese and Muller Comfort gained a very creditable 4 stars.

The Grace MX only managed 3 stars due to being under powered? At 50NM this surprises me, although the mag did have a problem with the Bosch charger so maybe this was the reason. They also didn't like the rather complexed 2012 Bosch LCD which I agree is over complicated with 12 levels of assistance. The 2013 bikes however come with the new display and control which cuts the bewildering 12 levels down to a more manageable 4. The dynamo has also been replaced this year with battery controlled lights.

A bit miffed about the comments re the Wisper Classic cables, they are slightly long in the lowest possible handle bar setting so they are long enough in the full height position. Maybe if they had realised why they were longer we would have had 2 x 5 star bikes!

All the best

David

I will drop a line to the publishers for you to see when it will be available at Amazon. I bought my copy from the Sevenoaks High Street W.H.Smiths so I am sure all branches will have some on the shelves.

In the mean time if you are having problems it is available here for £5.99 including P and P in UK...

Have to say was suprised by MX review as did not find underpowered myself but 2012 Bosch system is too fidly so 2013 version on MX would be my choice. Not something we sell at mo but am impressed by Grace bikes.

Nuvinci Harmony is also interesting, just got a bike with this on.

I tried the 2013 system on the Reise and Muller bikes Dave, MUCH better controls although a bit bulky IMO.

Re the MX power, it must have been the charging problem, to me the MX feels just as powerful as the Haibike and in my opinion a better ride.

The Nuvinci Harmony is quite uncanny, I still don't really understand how is works, but combined with the Bosch system it felt much like driving an automatic car?

This is an excellent publication for anyone considering an electric bike to buy this summer.

Bikes reviewed are (by order in the publication):
Juicy Sport,
Gocycle G2R,
Cube EPO Travel,
Riese & Muller Komfort,
Raleigh Leeds Tour,
Raleigh Velo Trail,
Mobiky Youri,
Xootr Swift-e,
Ave TH,
Wisper 905 Classic,
A2B Octave,
Batribike Dash,
Powabyke X-6,
A2B Kuo,
Kalkhoff Sahel,
Grace Easy,
Momentum Upstart,
Smart ebike,
Kranium Red Label ,
Storck Multitask

We are very happy with the review we were given, though there were no "Editor's Picks" within price ranges as per a typical review style consumer magazine, and some measured comparisons between bikes would have been useful.

For instance, for direct comparison, the number of spokes on a Gocycle is 10 compared to the number of spokes on a Juicy Sport at 72. The Gocycle achieved 4 stars as did our Sport, which means that the Sport achieved a rating of 18 spokes per star. The Gocycle only managed 2.5 spokes per star awarded by the reviewer and yet costs £2,799. So, in my book, that implies the Juicy Sport is at least 7.2 x 3.16 better value per spoke than the Gocycle... equivalent to better by a factor of approaching 23, in terms of spokes per star to the pound...

That issue aside, we received very favourable comments from this publication which actually arrived on my doorstep yesterday, my birthday! So, here at Juicy Bike Land we're all very happy.

Congratulations to David at Wisper and Grace, who did achieve the highly elusive 5 star rating (though the cost per star per spoke quotient is way, way lower than the Juicy Sport).

Thanks Bob for your kind comments the "elusive 5 star rating" on the Easy was fantastic, however I got more of a buzz from the 4.5 stars for the Classic!!

A bit of mutual back slapping here, but, I was delighted to see the Juicy Sport do so well you have a great bit of kit there!

All the best

David :)
