I've noticed this anomally before. The only thing I can think of to account for it is the fact that Cyclone got a very bad reputation in the USA long ago as a result of unreliability, poor support, waterproofing problems and corrosion. Some dealers refused to touch them any more. Perhaps sticking to the lower powers gives better reliability and less comebacks there now.

One thing that irritates is the name changes of the principal guy there in Taiwan. When mainly selling to the US and European markets he called himself Paul, after entering the Mexican market he changed that to Paco, but his real name is Ping-Yueh Lin. Not the sort of straight dealing I like.
.
I just hope theres no Indians or Pakistanis living in Mexico , or boy will they be in for suprise if they decide to buy from him .

I wonder what he calls himself in Taiwan .. Wang ?

Because if you added an er at the end and you happened to be from the US you might be inclined to think its another sort of business hes trying to sell.

You think hes involved in dubious dealings ??

Or is just some attempt to make himself more appealing to the market hes selling too i.e. Paco / Taco if used excuse the comparison when thinking of Mexico

Some guys whose video i saw here claims to have gotten round this burn out issue by applying some sort of " cooling kit ".

The helmet , I take it , is sold seperately ..

No, I don't think he's involved in dubious dealings, just that he's not as straight forward a person of the sort I like to deal with. Whatever name he chooses to trade as, he should be proud enough of his product, company and position to be that name and stick to that.

It's just these irritating doubtful things that concern, for example the English website but no way to buy through it, having to go through the Taiwan site only. Credit and debit cards not accepted, only PayPal or bank credit transfer.

dealing with Ping-Yueh Lin from Cyclone works well.
Only paypal is possible but it is very fast, usually after one week the stuff arrive in my home, if they have in stock.

I agree with flecc,
I also dont like this chinese tradition of changing the names to give the western people a feeling of be close to them, we are business partner, not more and not lower.
I prefer a stabil business contact much more as that my contact name is Paul, Paco, Frank or whatever...and it would give me a better feeling when i know the real name and not this sort of "artist-name"

I think every western guy is able to learn the chinese name the same as the chinese learn our name.
this is some kind of respekt to other´s in this case to china/taiwan.
