Lifted from the BBC news online today:

"The home secretary blocks plans by the English Defence League (EDL) to march through five of London's boroughs next month."

That's interesting. I wonder if she'd have come to the same decision if it had been a march of fundamentalist muslims pursuing their ambition of creating Sharia law in certain enclaves of the UK?

I'm not a fan, (of the EDL) but government policy seems less than fair and equitable when it comes to these potential public order issues.

Morning Indalo......

well, as my dear geordie dad used to say to me as we propped up the bar of the Moorcock Inn, garsdale, as I tried to match him whisky for whisky.......'' never let it be said that your fatha bred a jibber ''.......

Obviously its the governments job to block potentially dangerous marches........and we are now hopefully seeing the government taking a firmer stance on them......as they should after recent events, so we cant really judge at the moment .......however, if in the future we do see an unfair bias then that would be the time to criticize gov policy and your perception of it being less than fair and equitable.... not now.........lets wait and see how they react in the future......I am presuming this is the first proposed march since the riots, so, of course they are going to ban it.... as I am sure....in the future.....they will consider any potential marches that may be suspected as being used by fanatics out to cause trouble whoever may be organizing them

What they have to get right in the future is to learn quickly just exactly when it is time to stop marches/riots, by water cannons if possible, as soon as things start to get out of hand and to stop pussyfooting around
peoples human rights which as far as I am concerned they lose any right to as soon as they start flouting the law and acting illegally as i am sure you would agree.
