Today’s Observer has reviews the Canyon Roadlite - see attached for those without access/paywall.
There’s a few interesting things to note.
The research by the catchily named ‘TransportatIon Research Interdisciplinary Perspectives’ sounds interesting and - speaking personally - I am bang on profile here. And definitely much fitter than I was pre-eBike.
The other point I would make about the article is that I continue to be amazed at how few Orbea Gains I see on the streets of London. Literally not a single one since I got mine 3 months ago. And yet it sounds every bit as good as the Canyon, fulfilling a very similar profile/market, and at £900 more, much more expensive. I also have to say it doesn’t look as nice as the Orbea. The downtube is massive and clearly hiding a battery and is that a chainguard I see? A bit unnecessary....
Mind you I had to get my Orbea from mail order via the Lake District as apparently they went like hotcakes and I reckon I got the last ‘small’ F40 in the country.
When last heard, Orbea had some sort of problem with the factory in Spain (a fire?) and were having trouble producing new bikes. Not sure if that’s true or just an imaginative retailer making up an excuse for lack of stock.
