February 1, 20179 yr just been to a large cycle shop nearby and was amazed to see the amount of electric bikes in store. Last time I went about 6 months ago there were maybe 6 or so different bikes. Was suprised to see an increase to around 30 or so. Mainly high end Scott La pierre Mondrake (I think) mainly mountain bike types, but also some general purpose Ebco/ Bergamont etc. This is an enthusiasts shop selling high end road bikes and mountain bikes, so it would seem that some of the stigma is waning a little. Talking to a member of staff he was saying that they are becoming increasingly more popular and mainstream. Could this be a general shift in public acceptance.
February 1, 20179 yr everyone wants one just as you can see the cost of them is very high and near all the brand name mtb makers now have a ebike option.

February 1, 20179 yr I got the feeling from what the guy was saying that the market was widening with a lot of younger mountain bikers going for them. This. I scoffed when my parents (in their 70s) bought them. That was probably about 6 years ago. Then they updated them to slightly newer models. I gave one a try and realised it wasn't quite what I thought it was. I realised that: 1) I could cycle to work every day - driving could become the exception rather than the other way round on a non assisted bike. 2) My girlfriend who has a dodgy knee could cycle with me. I used to spend all my "spare" money on Cars - now I seem to spend it on ebikes / normal bikes instead. I would suggest that being in my 40s I am probably typical of the way the market is changing. I still ride a non-assisted Road bike for "sport" and the ebikes are more for leisure and commuting.
