Just wondering if anyone can suggest a good manual or link for me to learn how to maintain my new Ebike, ie regular parts to check / lube etc... I am sure it's easy, I would just appreciate some guidance. Also I wanted to get a bike maintenance stand - any recommendations for a sturdy one for my heavy bike ? Many thanks, Julian.

I don't have a copy, and I've never read it, but I've heard that the awesomely titled "Zinn and the art of mountain bike maintenance" is very good.

Hi Julian.

There have been untold bike maintenance manuals produced over the years including a Haynes example. I'm sure somebody gave me one as a present years ago but I don't think I have ever consulted it for anything.

You'll probably find that there is a 'Youtube' vid of just about all the jobs likely to crop up on a bike and there is a wealth of written material about bicycles on the net also.

As far as bike stands go, I'm sure there are some very robust models available but I have managed fine with one purchased from Lidl a couple of years ago. Both they and Aldi sell them every so often and if you are in no particular rush, they are certainly cheap. I'm very happy with mine and wish I'd bought a stand years before.

HiTom, Many thanks for the advice,I will keep an eye out for that. I purchased some gardening tools from Liddle that have stood the test of time. Thanks again, Julian.

Hey Julian,

Halfords has a work stand for doing cycle maintenance (or they use to). I bought one two years ago for just under £100 with no regrets. It handled my BH Emotion City 700 when I got it with no problems. It is excellent for washing the bike down after a dirty ride and any kind of repairs or maintenance.

There's an ap called Bike Repair for about £1.83. It has a schedule as well as instructions.

I found this by Googling 'Lidl bike stand' Julian and this is the very model I have. It copes easily with my 21 Kg Pro-Connect and will support my 27 Kg Dutch bike once I lift it into position. If I ran a cycle repair business, I'd probably pay 10 times as much for a really robust model but I honestly can't fault this one for the DIY situation.

I have a copy, which may have been updated but honestly I hardly ever use it know. I find it much easier to jump online (iPad in the shed) and make use of 100s of YouTube videos and/or the likes of Park Tool website or just ask in forums.

As to a bike stand, I have a Feedback Sports Elite which is there high end model. I am very impressed with it and do all my work on it (e.g., bottom brackets) including worth with recumbents. In fact my Bacchetta Giro 20 ATT is in it right now getting a Bafang BBS01 fitted to it :)
