Wow - his barrister did well to get him off an all charges.

At the very least it would seem he should not have been acquitted of the charges of driving without a licence and without insurance and since it was a modified (illegal) e-bike then he would be subject to the speed limit of 20 mph.

Great idea, about time and I suspect most countries will follow suit.
Badass dongles will be going cheap.
Wonder where it will leave kit market. Its actually difficult to find a legal kit amongst all the 750w plus stuff on ebay.
I was wondering a blanket ban (our local National Trust rangers wanted one) on all ebikes on mixed path tracks could result. Much better way forward. Fine the ones breaking the law, if you can find them. With £30k fine its worth looking for them.
Chap at our local bike shop reckons next gen of bikes shut down if dongles are fitted?
