Seems it is prudent to only allow demos to those willing to submit to the dealer taking a "mug shot".
Over 20 years ago I had to for access to military bases, despite having ID documentation.

Motorcycle Dealers were asking for a Passport to be left with them before you rode their Demo Bike and that was 20 years ago .
