Hi I have a old elife foldup 36v bike it's been very good in the 3 years I have owned it, I took the controller out as I had got some water in there, all is now fine, but on examination I noticed a 3 wire block not connected would this be for a throttle? The wires are red black and yellow ii does say on the controller throttle 5v I enclose a picture of the part, the controller number is gm2011-1592-16.thankyou.

It could be for anything. First, you need to measure the voltage between the red and the black. If it's 5v, you're going in the right direction. Next, you measure the voltage between yellow and black. if it's 5v, it's for a brake switch and you're out. If it's 0v, you're going in the right direction. Next, get a paperclip and bridge the red to the yellow for a short time. If the wheel spins, you're home. Obviously, lift the wheel off the ground first! The controller must be switched on before you make the bridge. If you do electronics and have a spare 5k resistor or thereabouts, you can use that to make the bridge more safely.
