July 20, 20214 yr Putting this here rather than start another scooter thread https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-london-57874409 A 16 year old boy was killed in a hit and run crash. The car drove off, driver was later arrested and found to be over the drink/drive limit Police are trying to find the scooter which went missing from the scene (stolen?) We live in sad times. Reports like this will shape public opinion and create calls to "do something". There's no mention of how the rider was behaving or where the crash happened so it could be a teen riding dangerously on a main road or it could be an innocent youngster on a residential street. A terrible result either way. Don't be surprised if we see more poorly thought out restrictions on e-scooters / e-bikes etc in the future.

We are in the middle of the government's year long trial period on e-scooters to determine whether they should be legalised. All the gathered e-scooter accident evidence during the trial period will be examined solely in that context, to decide whether to permit them permanently. .
November 28, 20214 yr From the UK Gove website, whether this is the true record one never can know but it is the official figures for known casualties. Reported road casualties Great Britain: e-Scooter factsheet year ending June 2021 - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
