Thinking of purchasing an electric mountain bike powered via Bosch mid drive. Given that I have read that e bike batteries have to be treated very carefully, are they able to take the knocks and bumps that is almost inevitable with mountain biking. Any comments/advice appreciated.

Hi and welcome aboard. :)

We do a bit of mild cross country with our 3 ebikes. No high jumps, that would be asking for trouble. Depends what you have planned I suppose?

Thanks for the welcome. Nothing too strenuous planned, but we will be cycling in a group. Just wondered how rugged the battery casing was as stones etc tend to fly off tracks when in a group. Wouldn't have worried ordinarily, but I saw the price of a replacement battery!!!!!!!
Common sense tells me that the batteries must be able to take a fair bit of shaking.

Really should not be a problem. Mine's taken taken some pretty big hits and is still going strong.
I've jumped with it, crashed with it and hit countless lumps, bumps and thumps.
It's slid down the road at 20mph when I forgot to lock it on and bounced a kerb stone.
That said, I have seen varying qualities of internal packing from different manufacturers, some better than others. On the most part they are designed for it and up to the job.
