I'm giving up e-bike commuting!

At the cutting edge of government policy I have been made redundant and left:confused:

I have not made my regular visits to Pedelec Forum because I am too busy searching for another job. A career change would be ideal. I have made out a CV and have made a few speculative enquiries and I am hoping that I can find work within a month or two. I've listed electrical assisted cycling under hobbies, it will be interesting to see if any potential employer asks me about this.

What else can I do in the meantime?

Pleasure e-cycling sounds good for the rest of the summer:D

The strange thing is I'm not up set about my old job because I did a fair bit behind the scenes and the managers will soon find that out:D

I also have a lot of reading I need to catch up on so I'm okay for the rainy days.

Its funny how things work out. I met the man who sold and repaired my old Raleigh bike (before he had to take early retirement). He didn't know the Kalkhoff Brand but he said he still helps out and he has only recently worked on his first e-bike, a GIANT. I wonder what he will think of the ProConnect S?

"electrical assisted cycling"? - Hmm, obviously too lazy to put any effort into anything, no good for us. (says a typically ignorant human resources officer)

Good luck with the job hunting, but enjoy the summer in the mean-time.

I used to employ people (for my sins) and one of the worst things on a CV was a long list of other interests.

I preferred 'occasional book-reading' and 'enjoying a quiet drink at weekends'...

I agree with the others, electric assisted might make them think you are disabled.

Best of luck with the job hunt though.

So if I put, "reading porn mags and getting totally rat-***** at weekends" I'd have got the job?

I do remember one bloke who was similarly honest, on the lines of "Trying to set up my own graphic design studio."

The job he was applying for was working in OUR graphic design studio.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I may well take out the 'electrical assisted' bit on CV version 2. At present I have sent out to two companies (one speculative) and one which has an mid August closing date.

I was quite glad not to be working because when I got up this morning the garage was soaking wet with water running down the wall (through the masonary) from a central shared gutter! Luckily where the e-Bike was parked was still dry because it was on the other side of the garage:). I have spent the day trying to sort things but the rain water affects my neighbours garage and I can't touch this.:(
