e-bike specific chains on offer at CR

I'm happy with my choice of KMC chain, but for anyone looking for e-bike specific chains, Chain Reaction have two makes on offer at the moment.

You will have to drag my Wippermann Connex from my cold dead fingers!

I only have had experience of cheap bulk pack KMC and it isn't a good experience. I have been abusing the Connex chain for 1000 km now and it has been basically faultless.

I really rate Connex sprockets on the Bosch motor system, but have never tried their chains.

I've also never had any trouble with KMC 93/10 chains, and for my use, spending loads of money on a chain is kind of like throwing money away. The grinding paste soil conditions quickly wear out and destroy every chain that I have ever tried, and KMC seem a good compromise.

For my use they are cheap and reliable, give no trouble in respect of slippage etc, and I have yet to snap one.
Having said that, I have only ever snapped one chain, and that was a Shimano chain on my pedal mtb.

I have also just put a new and very cheap SRAM chain on the second bike tonight, so it'll be interesting to see how that works out. I'm not too fussed about it, as I'm ditching the SRAM set up in favour of Shimano in the New Year any way.

Unless I'm wrong it only makes a difference if it's a crank drive? Otherwise there's no extra strain the chain?

I understand your cost concerns for 10 speed chains but the 6-7-8 speed ones are only 10€ or so as is the single speed chain for hub gear bikes. Yes that is still twice the price of a 5€ KMC but for road use the quality of the chain is at a whole new level I think it is the first chain I have ever had that I can't hear (because of the nickel plating???).

I found I was treating the chain harder on the hub motor because gear changing is different when the rear hub is turning by itself. The extra strain in my case was the human being pushing harder. And you probably do many more miles on an e-bike than on a road bike (unless you are a hard core lycra type) over the same period of time so you wear out tyres and chains faster.
