I visited my local e bike shop for the first time and found it bizzare.
First thought was it's closed walking up to the door. All in darkness but the door opened with a push and in I went. Bikes on display and most were over £2000 and one was just shy of £5000.
Found a small folding bike for £1400 which had rim brakes. Who's buying this stuff? I have never seen any of these bikes in the wild. As for accessories. Saddles. Water bottles and peddles. I picked up a rear brake light that was £35.95 and the only item with a price on.
Maybe if they sell a couple of bikes a month they can survive. Nothing there for me though.

My local bike shop is chock full of all the cheapo hub motored ebikes you see on Amzon, with about £200 added on. They don't repair ebikes they sell in-house, I enquired. They also won't build motors into wheels.

The rest of the shop is full of overpriced cheap tat, some of which is very old. I've never encountered another customer whenever I've poppped in to buy the total crap they sell, or ask a question. Whenver I've passed by, I've never seen a customer in the shop. Situated in what passes for prime commercial real-estate on the high street, I really don't see how they can possibly be running profitably. Must rely heavily on servicing perhaps, which I've never used. They've been there for about 100 years, used to manufacture bikes long ago in a factory about 100 yards away, so might own the block or something.

yeah 50 quid for a software update but tbh out of warranty they wont touch anything pdi check is hard enough.

tho there is ebike motor centre but they will slap there fee on top to remove it and send it to him and say they fixed it.

tho he does do courses so shop staff with the equipment can install a bearing service kit.

but you wont find many bike shops with a 6 ton shop press let alone all the tools to fix non ebikes.

Like all the Turkish barbers, most electric bike shops are probably fronts for laundering drugs money.
