Help! E bike key replacement?

Hi,
I have just bought a second hand Insync joule e bike. The guy I bought it from had lost the charger and the key. I decided to go ahead as it was a bargain and still works without the key but I can't remove the battery. Does anyone know what type of key this bike uses and if it is possible to get a replacement or any other solution? Any help would be much appreciated

Woosh - Lost keys - what can be done?

I have just bought a secondhand Woosh Big Bear from one of their customers advertised on their website https://wooshbikes.co.uk/?secondhand so I'm pretty sure it's not stolen:) Unfortunately the seller has lost the keys. It's in great condition as although it's 6 years old it's only done 26...

Yes... The charger and the keys are the two essential parts needed to operate an e-bike but not physically attached to it when left outside Tesco's and then stolen.

Well the guy I bought it from was elderly and had just lost his wife. He'd moved house and lost the box he put the charger and the keys in. He had only used the bike once, probably because he had so much going on with his wife being unwell. So I don't think it had been the first thing on his mind.

As the keys are usually paired to the battery, my first port of call would be to talk to Insync's own customer service people which their website says is 0161 727 4066. If they can supply a new lock with keys, you should be able to pick, dismantle, or drill the old lock out.

It's often only premium branded e-bikes that use named brand and numbered locks such as Abus where you can order replacement keys, and only then if you know the original key number.

Usually a case of more like, I or a mate I know nicked the bike but couldn't find the charger or battery key so had to hot foot it out of there.

In your case being an older/bereaved guy it probably is kosha.

The lock can be replaced by a locksmith or drilled out, jiggler keys should get it open.
Charging wise show a pic of the battery charge point and then one should be able to get a generic £10 - £15 charger to use form ebay with the correct connector.

That's funny, because when I was out walking my dog, the postman, who never misses a chance to gossip, told me that his next door neighbour's son, was ill, so his mum called the doctor, but the doctor was on holiday and couldn't come. His mum therefore decided to go and get some stuff from Boots instead. While waiting in the queue there, his mum (divorced) started chatting to the guy in front and they hit it off and decided to see each other again. A few nights later, they went for a walk in the park, and while there, he told her about an old guy, who lived next door to him and was a bit of a tea leaf, but that wasn't the interesting bit. Apparently his wife knew about it and wasn't happy, so she threatened to grass on him to the police. Soon after that, his wife became ill and died. There was some suspicion that he had poisoned her. Either way, he left that house in a bit of a rush for no apparent reason. This seems to fit really well with your story. What do you think? Is it the same guy? Can you tell us the street where he lives?

Thanks, I'll see what the company say and if they can't do anything I'll try the jiggler keys. I've ordered a charger from amazon which looks to be the right connector and voltage. Thanks for your help.

So the charger I ordered from Amazon was meant to be a 36v charger. It's just arrived and says 'output:42v' on it, is it bad for my 36v battery to charge it with that?

36v is the nominal rating approx. 50%, 42v is the full charge voltage 100%. Your new charger is the correct one.
