I have a 2009 Bafang 250w front hub motor, on the inside of the case are six blind holes that look like they could be used to fix a brake rotor, do you think this is what they are for ? they are on the side of the motor where the cable connects . Thanks Andy.bikemotor2.thumb.jpg.9e69641fe1caa712fafeab7ff52dc350.jpgbikemotor.thumb.jpg.86a23e2cf30a82277444ee24b1cd8dec.jpg
Brake Discs are normally on the opposite side to the cable. I doubt it would work well with a sharp spinning disk close to the cable !!!
Aikema hubs have lhs cable entry and rotor fixings for the disc, no issues at all with the operation.

Thanks for the reply, I will have to buy a disc and see if the holes line up . I have good rim brakes but I think the weight of the bike would benefit from hydraulic disc brakes, can’t see why it wouldn’t work either.

Andy.

Hold on. Before you do anything:

The motor only rotates in one direction. When you put the wheel in the forks the correct way for the forward rotation, the brake is on the left side. If those holes are on the right, you're out, otherwise OK.

Also bear in mind that your forks need the mounting holes for the disk brake caliper... Not all forks have them.

Very true my forks don’t have a caliper mount but they are heavy steel forks of an old Ridgeback frame, so I should be able to weld on a mount.
