there are a few other battery stories at the bottom of the page but this one seems the most promising

Hopefully when my battery dies in about a year and a half we might be well on our way to this.

Very early days, and it's just one of many experimental li-ion cathodes being worked on by both electronics companies and the motor industry. All have the same aims, but LiFePO4 developments are very likely to make most of this research redundant.
