does such a LED/lamp exist?

At the moment I've got no less than 3 front lights on my Wisper. One Cateye EL-500, an Edinburgh Bicycle "revolution" 1W LED and also a converted Basta 1925 "dynamo" light (in fact being powered from a 6V 4Ah water bottle battery I had from another light set).

This might seem like overkill but part of my ride is in the countryside without street lights and these do the job.

The Basta has a 6V 2.3W halogen "torch bulb" in it. its bright enough and has a useful fresnel lens which widens the beam, but "yellow" compared to the LED's (to be expected) and less efficient I am wondering if there is a replacement for this lamp/bulb but with LED chips instead?...

There are replacement led 'bulbs' available for some applications but they are usually disapointing in their light output.

What type of bulb is it?

The Singletrack forum is very keen on dealextreme P7 LED torches at the moment in terms of performance and value for money.

There are also a number of drop-in LED replacements available from same source.

A "torch bulb". Like this one, I think the new "euro-designator" for the fitting (which I had to look up) is P9 flanged...
