Does anyone know what connector this is? From AKM-74 motor

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm trying to salvage some of the bits from the EZ rider kit I bought a while ago.

The motor was an AKM-74 that came with this connector. I don't think it's the usual plug, and looks like it's specifically for this kit.

Interestingly, it seems to have 10 pins. I've not managed to test if all 10 are used, or if it's just 9.

This wire comes from the wheel to an adapter, which combines other inputs from brakes and the PAS sensor and then a single cable plugs into the controller.

I'm trying to use the wheel, and run a KT controller, so figure i'll likely need to cut the cable and pop on a new adapter type / plug.

Any ideas?

cheers

Even if you could find one to match, you'd still need to solder 10 wires on the matching one, so it would be better to cut it off and solder the 9 wires to a standard 9-pin onw, which is readily available on any motor cable.

If the 10th wire is used, it must be a temperature sensor. Hopefully, all the other wires are standard colours, so it should be obvious which one it is. Without cutting off that connector, it's going to be tricky figuring out which wire is which unless you open the motor.

Yup, figured I'd need to do that.

Hoping the colours are standard.

So I'm guessing I'll decide which controller plug in getting, then order a male plug to solder on

You buy a motor cable. It has both connectors on it. In practice, you only need the one with pins because you need to buy the motor cable that goes between the motor and the controller anyway.
