Do HDG i-beam to twin rail saddle converters exist?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know of a converter to standard twin rail? I replaced my Dahon Helios P8's original seatpost which features a HDG i-beam saddle, because it's the most uncomfortable saddle I have ever used. The original seatpost is stronger and longer than the one I replaced it with, also props the bike up better when folded, so I would like to bring it back into use... the problem is that bloody uncomfortable saddle! o_O All of the i-beam saddles I've seen so far look just as narrow, lightly padded, and uncomfortable - now that the Battle of Shiroyama is finally over, I suspect Samurai sword master blacksmiths have found new demand for their skills sharpening i-beam saddles, because they seem specifically designed to inflict pain, and there don't appear to be any comfy sprung saddles compatible with the i-beam system. I'm trying a memory foam cover, for which I've unscrewed the saddle cover retainers to fix into place. Not holding out much hope, because it didn't improve matters much when simply held on using a lanyard. I might glue it into place then cut and add a thick leather cover, to see if that makes a difference, the original retainer screws seem long enough to go through two leather layers, if not I'll source longer screws.
