As discussed in another thread, I wanted to use toe clips with my bikes. I like the look of Powergrips and Restrap, but but because I believe in conserving the planets precious resources (but mostly 'cos I'm a tight wad) I thought I'd make some.
Whenever I get a new toolbag/laptop bag/holdall they always come with one of these:
I don't use them, so they go in a drawer. I must have 20 or so.
This one is about 40mm across, and is just right.
Step 1:
Cut it so it's about 550mm long, and remove hardware so you get this:
Step 2:
Melt the end a bit to prevent fraying(candle, gas hob, lighter WHY). I like my blow torch best:
Step 3:
Attach to pedal like this:
Step 4:
Adjust so that you can get your foot in at an angle of about 45 Deg to the bike:
Then straighten foot. Easy
Mine are just stiff enough to for a loop, but if they are bit floppy you could iron a crease into them.
