Diminishing pride

We have just purchased two Gazelle sit up and beg hybrids. For years we’ve been kidding our selves and bodies that we can bike like the best MTB types but the truth of the matter is that time is beginning to make serious inroads into our stamina, backs and knees. We love cycling and so power assistance seemed an option.

We visited the Electric bike shop off Bristol’s Blackboy Hill to assess whether e bikes were really a good idea. From the first (of many) trial runs it was apparent that it was not IF but WHAT we were going to buy. The comfort and riding position of what seemed initially to be an old fashion frame design was a revelation. We both agreed that image should take a back seat and that if we were to enjoy being out and about on two wheels until they shipped us away in our respective boxes then these superbly engineered bikes would ensure a comfortable replacement for our old machines.

Hi Southwye,

The reputation of ebikes being only for seniors is long gone

Everyone (young and old) has wised up to the benefits and fun an ebike can bring to your life

Be it used for work, commuting or pleasure riding. Welcome aboard

I, ve had my ebike about 3 years, my only regret... Not getting one a decade ago.

Simple fact is you can, if you wish, work equally hard, probably harder, than on normal mtb. You can push to exhaustion, knowing you can at end rely on bike more.

My normal route, pre emtb, was 14 miles. Its 28 now, go further, higher faster. If you wish stick to normal routes and ease off but mindset they make it easier is missing point.

The better, fitter you are the more you can get out of them. All depends how you use them.

Good luck and enjoy the bikes.

This style of bike is very common in Holland and Germany, I guess people are less motivated by fashion there and are more motivated by comfort.

I hope you enjoy them.
